WHAT TO EXPECT
Treatment for Scalp Micropigmentation takes place over multiple sessions (appointments). It can take 2-4 hours per session. This is because ink must be deposited in layers in order to create a realistic look that blends in with any natural hair follicles that are still present.
In the FIRST SESSION, the HAIRLINE will be drawn with a wax pencil. The client will be given a chance to examine the hairline and give the artist the okay to go ahead with the tattooing.
An INK colour will be chosen. Ink colour is determined by looking at the client’s skin colour, underlying skin tone and hair colour. The ink will be deposited conservatively in the first session in order to leave room for correction if the pigment turns out to be a little too dark or if it migrates. Every scalp is different so the results from the first session will give important insight as to how the skin handles the pigment.
AFTERCARE instructions will be provided to the client at the end of the appointment.
In the SECOND SESSION changes can be made to improve the appearance based on the healed results of the first session. Adjustments can be made to the colour of the ink and the look of the hairline. Ink deposits will be much more concentrated in this session.
In the THIRD SESSION dots will be placed in any areas that need it. At this point, the end result will be visible.
* Sometimes a FOURTH SESSION is required. The need for a fourth session will be determined based on the results from the third session.*
Measurements are taken using the client’s face to ensure the hairline is drawn into the correct position.
The client's head shape, face shape, and age help decide the most suitable hairline type.
Many pictures will be taken throughout the process. The client will be given an electronic copy (email) of the before and after photos for their own records.

Below are some progress pictures of one of my clients who is on the journey to a full hairline. He has been bald since he was 24 years old. He was apprehensive about SMP and would only allow me to treat the back of his head at first. He wanted to see if the results would actually be realistic and undetectable.
